Synopsis:In this adaptation of the Top Cow comic book, Witchblade is the story of a New York detective, Sara "Pez" Pezzini, whose search for justice brings her into contact with the Witchblade, an ancient, intelligent, living weapon so powerful it can battle Earth's darkest evil forces. Week in and week out, "Pez" employs her skills as a police detective to fight crime. She finds she must employ the Witchblade to combat a much greater and frighteningly organized conspiracy of evil that threatens the very soul of humanity. WITCHBLADE: We started out as fans of the Top Cow comic and were thrilled when we heard that it was coming to TV. When we finally did see it on TV our reaction was mixed to be honest.
However with that in mind, upon viewing the massive DVD collection that warner has put together here we actually gave our initial opinion of the show a revise. We think what ruined it for us the first time around was the commercial interruptions. Now that we have the dvd(s), Witchblade actually is a highly addictive show. The story line evolves nicely in regards to main character "Pezz" (Yancy Butler) learning about her destiny and her past.
Yancy Butler and the rest of the cast do a great job with the acting but the one thing that still bothered us about this series was its editing. It would have been a tad better had they involved the Witchblade action a bit more. But this is just a minor quibble and the same could be said about any sword and sorcery show, like Highlander, where the only head loppin' off action was at the start and at the end of each episode.
If you were a fan of the show, or a fan of Yancy Butler (drool.), definitely buy this DVD box set. You won't be disappointed.
