Day four of the CMJ Marathon and I can honestly say that we have not seen a bad band. When you think about what the price for a major band, playing in a major venue, cost these days, CMJ offers music lovers the best bang for their buck. Also, what could be better then seeing a bad perform at one of these great intimate music venues, only to have them blow up a year from now and you can say you saw them when. When you hear all the stories about the golden days of rock, CMJ offers attendees the chance to be part of future rock history. That’s not to mention all the great panels that already have taken place that give you the unique chance not just to hear from people in the music industry, but this personal setting allow you to interact with them and acquire valuable knowledge. Plus, there were numerous panels on cutting edge technology coming down the pipe and discussions about a variety of issues of music on the web. Breaking Into Film Scoring 3:30PM - 4:45 PM - NYU, Kimmel Center, 4th Floor, Room 406 Composing music for film can be one of the most exhilarating (and potentially lucrative) creative experiences. It's also a world that seems impossible to get into. What and who does an artist need to know in order to make it in the field of film composition? How do you get your work noticed? This panel will feature film directors, studio music executives, music supervisors, and artists who have successfully made the transition to film composition. |
