A Dark Knight promotion, featuring a chocolate cake wired to look like an explosive device, prompted a local San Antonio, Texas, news station to call in the bomb squad earlier this week.

Echoing the Aqua Teen Hunger Force bomb scare in Boston in Feb. 2007, the low-budget guerilla campaign delivered some unintended results for the Santikos Theater chain.

"Causing that kind of disturbance with the bomb squad and police officers was never our intention," said Meghan Vincent, a rep for the eight-theater chain in Texas. "This was not exactly the kind of press we were going for."

ImageIt looks like Corey Feldman can't get a break back to the big screen. The long awaited (and mostly forgotten about) sequel to THE LOST BOYS, LOST BOYS: The Tribe is heading straight to video according to Bloody-disgusting.com. Not to worry, Corey, give it a month or so and your movie will be one of those "Exclusive" SciFi Channel premieres. Then you can hang with SCIFi heavy hitters like Lou Diamond Phillips.

Corey looks like he's barely aged in the 20 years since the last movie. Maybe he's a vampire? Or is it CGI?

Here's the Trailer:

The Golden Flop? PDF Print E-mail

Image"The Golden Compass" apparently got a giant PASS from the movie going public. While being the #1 weeknd earner on the weekend, it still only pulled in a modest $26.1 million domestically and $55 million internationally.  But unfortunately the movie cost $180 million to make. Still $81.1 million in sales is still a nice pile of beans.

Of course NEW LINE will break even plus a few bucks on the film once the theatrical run finishes and the DVD sales, as well as "on demand" sales, are tallied.

If earning that much money qualifies it in the media news as a "Flop" then our meager little wages at Fearsmag wouldn't even qualify as a pittance.

{New York, NY} - The word is out on the street. FEARSmag was attending a special screening of "Hitman" when we ran into the CEO of Latino Review, Kelvin Chavez. As usual, Kelvin was eager to give up the goods on the latest insider info he had. Someone at the screening knew that Kelvin had recently attended a special screening of I AM LEGEND and pressed him to give up the goods on the film. Kelvin remarked that the film was okay, but not as good as he had expected it to be. As a fan of the book, Kelvin said he was disappointed by both some of the plot changes as well as some of the production designs, especially in terms of the CGI creature effects. Overall, he expressed his disappointment in the film not being the epic it should have been, but "what films are ever as good as the books." His prediction, the film should do okay but he didn’t feel it would be the Christmas blockbuster Warner Bros. was hoping for.

{UPDATE - 11/20/2007} - As the early news makes the rounds around the web word has come down from Warner Bros that the CEO of Latino Review did not see the entire finished film. In fact, according to a response we received from a source at Warner Bros. Mr. Chavez  "claims he viewed the first 30 minutes only." Other sources in the online community claim that it is highly unlikely Mr. Chavez has seen any footage of the film as they were still doing reshoots as late as  the week on Nov. 12th.

Given the resulting confusion leads one to wonder if there are any other reporting errors going over at Latino Review and question their editorial integrity. If you find any errors let us know!
