"The Golden Compass" apparently got a giant PASS from the movie going public. While being the #1 weeknd earner on the weekend, it still only pulled in a modest $26.1 million domestically and $55 million internationally. But unfortunately the movie cost $180 million to make. Still $81.1 million in sales is still a nice pile of beans.
Of course NEW LINE will break even plus a few bucks on the film once the theatrical run finishes and the DVD sales, as well as "on demand" sales, are tallied. If earning that much money qualifies it in the media news as a "Flop" then our meager little wages at Fearsmag wouldn't even qualify as a pittance.
