BY MGM website - Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson; Harry Sloan, Chairman and CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM); Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs of New Line Cinema have jointly announced today that they have entered into the following series of agreements:
* MGM and New Line will co-finance and co-distribute two films, “The Hobbit” and New Line will distribute in North America and MGM will distribute internationally. |

{New York, NY} - Join I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence as he screens scenes from the movie and discusses the making of this film, adapted from the Richard Matheson sci-fi novel and starring two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith. Following the discussion, Lawrence will take questions from the audience. The film’s producer and cowriter, Akiva Goldsman, will moderate the event. I Am Legend will hit theaters on December 14.
The event will take place Tuesday, December 11, 3:00 p.m., at the Apple Store in SoHo, located at 103 Prince Street, New York City.

BY Michael Fleming {Variety} - John Singleton will direct "Executive Order: Six," a thriller to be financed by Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity. Plan is to begin production early next year, and casting is under way. Philip Eisner's script, based on a story he wrote with Robbie Consing, follows the residents of a small, snowbound town, who band together to fight a mysterious horror that turns out to be an alien being unleashed by a plane crash. |
