The SITGES - International Film Festival of Catalonia will be opening its 40th edition, on October 4th, with one of the season's most awaited first works, The Orphanage, by J.A. Bayona (out-of-competition) that will give way to the Official Fantàstic Selection with the outstanding presence of public debuts: Timecrimes, by Nacho Vigalondo; El Rey de la Montaña (King of the Hill), by Gonzalo López-Gallego; El último Justo, by Manuel Carballo; À l'intèrieur (Inside), by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo; Danniponjin, by Hitoshi Matsumoto; First Snow, by Mark Fergus; Frontière(s), by Xavier Gens; La habitación de Fermat, by Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña; Joshua, by George Ratliff; The Nines, by John August; The Signal, by David Bruckner, Dan Bush, Jacob Gentry; Teeth, by Mitchell Lichtenstein and Tres Minutos, by Diego Lublinski, make up over half of the competition.
