Fearsmag Staff Working with Promo Partners at Advance Screenings to Help Collect Donations for Unicef.

New York, NY (February 5, 2010) – FEARSmag.com has implemented a campaign with their promotional partners at special free advance New York screenings to help raise money for the children of the Haiti earthquake.

Armed with the highly visible UNICEF boxes utilized by children nationally for the organizations annual Halloween Fund Drive, the FEARSmag staff is asking attendees waiting online outside the theaters to make a small donation to help these children who are facing real life horrors on a daily basis.

Since 1998 FEARSmag.com, the oldest genre website on the worldwide web has had the pleasure to work with numerous film studios and advertising agencies to offer film fans free tickets to advance screenings of hundreds of films. Today in New York City the ticket prices for two people to attend a screening is approximately $25.00 and a theater can hold between 200 and 400 people on average.

We are blessed with so many things that we take for granted here in the Big Apple. On any given week night in New York City there is at least one promotional screening. During the height of the movie season there were times we had three screenings in one week. If each member took one dollar out of their snack budget, we could raise $200.00 to $400.00 per screening. I’m not sure how much we can raise but every little bit goes along way to easying so much pain and suffering these children are dealing with. UNICEF is a great charity that will put these donates to work for the children of Haiti,” passionately explained Joseph B. Mauceri, FEARSmag.com’s Executive Editor.

On Thursday, February 4th, 2010, FEARSmag began their campaign at the advance screening for Anchor Bay Films’ FRZOEN held at the AMC Village VII on 3rd Avenue and 11th Street in New York City. The theater accommodated 296 viewers. The team’s quest for donations from those waiting on line resulted in a total collection of $35.88 and a check was send down to UNICEF’s office Friday morning.

It’s a humble beginning but a foundation that we can begin to build on in the coming months,” said Mauceri.

With some many genre films being released this year FEARSmag plans to run their campaign until the end of the summer movie season, Labor Day 2010. Each Monday the amounts collected at the promo screenings will be posted on the site.
