BY Michael Fleming {Variety} - John Singleton will direct "Executive Order: Six," a thriller to be financed by Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity. Plan is to begin production early next year, and casting is under way. Philip Eisner's script, based on a story he wrote with Robbie Consing, follows the residents of a small, snowbound town, who band together to fight a mysterious horror that turns out to be an alien being unleashed by a plane crash. |

BY Stuart Kemp {Variety} - The first round of awards have been dished out by the U.K. Film Council's revamped development fund. Among the winners are writer-director Christopher Smith, who burst onto the scene with a duo of horror movies, "Creep" and "Severance," is developing "Triangle," billed as a psychological horror. Smith collaborator Jason Newmark will produce with the project, receiving 7,500 pound ($15,000) from the fund. |

BY Michael Fleming {Variety} - Bruce Willis will star in “The Surrogates,” a sci-fi thriller that Jonathan Mostow will direct for Disney. The studio is eyeing a February production start in Boston.
A Willis deal comes just as United Artists unplugs “Pinkville,” the My Lai massacre drama in which Willis was going to star for director Oliver Stone next month. |
